Just a five-minute walk to Gotanda Station, Ryokan Sansuiso was our comfortable retreat in Tokyo. The room was spacious with clean tatami mats and cozy futons, which really enhanced the traditional Japanese experience. I loved the hot bath tub in the shower room that always came pre-filled with warm water, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The owner and staff were exceptionally helpful, assisting with our luggage and providing great dining recommendations nearby. The location was ideal. we easily accessed popular spots like Shibuya and Shinjuku from the nearby station. However, the sound of trains passing by was disruptive at night, particularly in rooms facing the station. While it was easy to overlook this due to the overall charming atmosphere, it’s definitely something to consider if you're sensitive to noise. The lack of a breakfast option was also a bit inconvenient, but the many eateries close by easily made up for this.

good access to meguro river, walkable distance to Gotanda station, modern and updated shared bathrooms
The train noise can be a nuisance, especially during the night!!! A bit more soundproofing between rooms would be nice!!! Also, the futons weren't the most comfortable for someone who prefers a firm mattress!!!

A Hidden Gem in Tokyo for Solo Travelers!
My short stay was delightful! The owner offered fantastic tips for local eateries just steps away, making breakfast a breeze. Don't miss out on the delightful nearby shops for quick bites. Although the shared bathrooms can feel busy, they are impeccably clean. Bring earplugs if you're light sleepers!

The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and offered a great atmosphere that honored traditional Japanese aesthetics. Friendly hosts introduced guests to local customs and provided helpful tips about nearby eateries, including delightful vegetarian dishes. However, the shared bathrooms, while clean, occasionally felt crowded, and there were no cooking facilities available, which limited meal options. Despite these minor setbacks, the overall experience felt cozy and welcoming in a quiet neighborhood, just a short walk to the train station.
